I DEFY THEE, HUMAN!

"WHAT is in this bag?!  I MUST SHRED IT."

"Oh NO you DIDN'T."

"I'll teach YOU to squirt ME!"

Yes, when I squirt her with the spray bottle, she comes running as if she's going to fight the bottle or something.  She makes that goofy "ackackackack" noise that cat's make when they're hunting something, and gives me the evil eye.  Then 30 seconds later she's back doing whatever naughty thing she got in trouble for in the first place.

She's like a rebellious teenager - "You telling me 'no' just makes me want to do it even more!  So BITE ME, Human!"

(Also, whoever had the lame idea to caption cat pictures with so-called "LOLSpeak" obviously doesn't own a cat.)

  1. Their job is to entertain. If some accessories are lost in the doing of it, well... that's how they roll. (Or at least that's how the dogs around here feel, probably much the same with cats.)

  2. I've generally found that if you're trying to teach your cat, making an angry noise and then subbing something fun (roll a sparkly ball past her) works better than water bottles. I used a bottle when I just needed to keep foster kittens from bothering Toby for a few days after a surgery, but prefer the distraction method otherwise. A lot of cats figure out where the squirts are coming from and from there realize they can be extremely naughty when you're not around because there won't be any squirts. Others don't care about the water and just come at you aggressively when you squirt. They're far too smart sometimes!

  3. The worry I have with subbing is I'm afraid it will seem like a reward. "Hmm every time I attack Haley, mahmmy plays a game with me. Oooh I like this!"

Cats are so lovely and evil.

  4. Oh, I make ALL SORTS of angry noises. :-) Lily finds them highly entertaining. She is honestly the smartest cat I've ever dealt with, and the looks she gives me speak *volumes*. Mostly, "Seriously??" and "What? I'm not doing anything." Yet she's so stinkin' adorable and has just in the past few months become affectionate - not on my lap, but next to me on the couch, which is saying a lot for the little brat who wouldn't even let me pet her for more than 5 seconds before.
    Lovely and evil, indeed! :-)
