Smile... no, SMILE.

This weekend I decided we should take our annual "Christmas picture" to put in our e-cards to friends and family.  First off, yes, I send e-cards instead of paper cards. I hate spending a lot on postage, so this way I can send it to more people, I can attach multiple pictures, and I also don't feel like I'm adding to the after-Christmas-massive-amounts-of-paper-waste-stream as much.  (Read: I'm a cheapskate.)

Anyway, the pictures.  The dog is apparently afraid of the tri-pod, so I couldn't get him in any of the pictures even by sitting on the floor:

(Also, hello chins?  Plural?)

So I cropped Jake's (worriedomgwhatsthatblinkingthingwithlegs) face out and got a halfway decent one.

And yes, B has a beard.  And yes, that's exactly how it grew in.  There is no hair between the 'stache and the goatee.  It's kind of weird, yet I'm glad because can you imagine if it was all filled in?  Yeesh.  As it is, he's a pretty decent looking mountain man.  Also, note the side-swept bangs that happen to perfectly cover a massive volcanic zit on my temple.  Ta-daa!

Then we got the giggles, trying to take a "scenic overlook" type picture (you know, the ones where you hold the camera at arm's length) but the timer was still on so B's holding the camera out there for a full ten seconds...

...which morphed into this:

....and then we have the Gaping Nostrils of Doom:

....yeah.

  2. Oh my gosh Jen! This was so funny I about peed my pants! I love to read your stuff!
We took family pictures of all the granskids and then me, Joshua and Bethany, and it was crazy! Joshua said we could do it ourselves with the tri-pod! Yeah right! Do you think even one out of 4 kids would look at the camera for that long? NO!
So our neighbor came over and helped out! Thank goodness!

  3. Adam and I are WAY worse. If I was going to send out a card this year I would definitely only have Oly in the shot. For some weird reason no matter how Adam and I try we ALWAYS end up looking like tools.

I guess not all of us were born to be models right?

OH, and way to go on cutting back on Christmas paper waste. After spending 30 dollars on cards this year, I am TOTALLY stealing your ecard idea next year.

  4. Next I'm going to cut out the holiday wrapping paper. I like using pretty papers, but is it necessary? No.... and besides I've seen some super cute ideas using newspaper and plain brown butcher paper.

  5. I bet if there was another person helping, Jake wouldn't mind it so much. But I refuse to let someone else be witness to our photo-taking drama!

  6. This is why I'm asking for Photoshop for Christmas this year. :-)
